Meyer Co. is a brand specializing in tactical knives, both automatics and fixed blades. Its founder and president, Bill Meyer, is an avid sportsman. The company also offers some knives and tools for people who spend time outdoors, such as those who do fishing and hunting. The brand has won a number of awards for its knives in innovative designs. It offers support to knife manufacturers who present better and new ideas.
History of Meyer Co.
The company was founded in January 1997, by Bill Meyer. Meyer established the enterprise to satisfy his own interest in all types of sporting knives, and for pursuing business potential. He formed a partnership with Walter Collins, aka Blackie, a knife designer, former owner and founder of the magazine American Blade. When he was in grade school, Collins designed his first ever knife. Over the years, he worked for 20 various knife makers, as per his interview published on Atlanta.com. Collins was a productive inventor and held patents on over 60 knives. He designed the first ever truly assisted-opening knife, “Strut’N’Cut”. This was the first knife that was produced by Meyer Co.
The “Strut’N’Cut” won the “Most Innovative American Knife” award from Blade during the first year of Meyer Co. in business. The brand describes the mission of its business as constant improvement, and offers knives of the best quality as a cost that is appropriate for average buyers.
Present Status of Meyer Co.
Today, Meyer Co. has the reputation of being the original company that makes knives with assisted opening mechanism.
